To Review or Not Review

I have self-published two books so far, both through Amazon. Yet neither has reviews yet. I have friends and family who have purchased the book (THANK YOU!), but so far nobody has reviewed.

Why would they? The books are good, do they really need reviews? Aren't reviews for food processors that break or bikes with wheels that fall off? Aren't they written to warn potential buyers of disasters?

In part, yes. But don't forget: the more positive reviews a product has, the more willing others will be to buy it. Especially when it's a product or book they are not familiar with.

Oh dear! An image that breaks any published author's heart. Be kind. Always leave a book review!

My books are special. And I mean this in the most objective sense. There are not many books in Spanish that showcase Puerto Rican people as they are. There aren't many stories out there that are about us and that are just FUN. No politics, no social commentary, just us as people living our lives, trying to make it, having dreams and dealing with our day-to-day moments. (All in the setting of a drag queen club).

So I do ask that when you buy the book please leave a review. Or even if you bought it a while back, go to Amazon and let others know you loved it. You can write your review in Spanish if you'd like. So go now and leave your reviews here and here.
